LEAVE ME BE!
Transcending Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting Around the Globe from Africa to the United States
A Joint Venture between Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation and UR2.Global
Lyrics and Melody Written & Performed by Dr.K's Music Therapy aka Amelia Kemp, Ph.D., LMHC
Music Arranged by Premik Russell Tubbs and Dr. K's Music Therapy
Song Produced by Premik Russell Tubbs * Video Produced by UR2.Global
Ballet by Roxi Victorian - Pre-Doctoral Dance Fellow
Project of The Sacretherapy Institute, Inc.
As UR2.Global continues to uplift the self-esteem of humanity, we understand that how a person feels about their body-temple can greatly affect their sense of self-esteem, especially when their body-temple has been violated. As such, it is our honor to have co-created this music video with Global Woman Peace Foundation to transcend Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting throughout the world in the countries it is practiced in from Africa to the United States, and also uplift anyone that has been sexually violated. This project was tremendously heartfelt for all participants, and, from a clinical standpoint Dr. Kemp states that "as a holistic psychotherapist the video is meant to be psycho-educational and psycho-spiritual as it proclaims: Leave Me Be! And the song itself is meant to be instructive, affirming and liberating" - (Copyright 2016 by Dr. K's Music Therapy - aka Amelia Kemp, Ph.D., LMHC).
The video was produced by UR2.Global utilizing the following artists-in-residence: Roxi Victorian - Ballet, Kijana Wiseman - African Bird Call, Candice Wilson - background vocals, and the song was arranged and produced by world renown Premik Russell Tubbs - 2016 UR2.Global Honorary Artist-in-Residence.
Fifty-percent of the proceeds from the song are being donated to the Global Woman Peace Foundation to pay for reconstructive surgeries for FGM survivors. The remaining 50% goes to UR2.Global to continue its work in uplifting the global self-esteem of humanity. Permission will be granted to embed the video on other advocacy sites but you must first obtain permission by contacting: www.Globalwomanpeacefoundation.org OR contact us here at UR2.Global@gmail.com. The song itself may be purchased below for $1.00 or you may contribute more. And free copies of the written lyrics are available at www.DrK-MusicTherapy.bandcamp.com for any at-risk youth affected by FGM/C and/or survivors with hopes of the lyrics being memorized as a poem for personal use or use in school and church skits to transcend FGM/C worldwide.
